Accelerate FTTH PON Network Deployment with Next-Generation Access Technology
2019-11-07 18:03:56

The number of fiber to the home (FTTH) and fiber to the building (FTTB) subscribers in the world is increasing every year. Many incumbent telecom and cable operators have publicly acknowledged their preference for FTTH services and have started GPON trials and field deployments to accelerate FTTH adoption. FTTH networks deliver the required bandwidth and user experience for the emergence of new services such as 4K/8K video, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and smart home/building applications.

Ascent Communication Technology’s (ACT) network solution is a comprehensive FTTH product portfolio. ACT products have been designed with today’s and tomorrow’s networks in mind allowing for ease of technology migration and network upgrades. ACT’s CEx WDM or coexistence element module is designed to enable the implementation of various PON access network evolutions such as GPON, EPON, 10GPON, XGS-PON, and NG-PON2. The CEx can meet today’s GPON network requirements and accommodate the next generation of ITU-T PON network architecture without expensive network upgrades. It allows the coexistence of all GPON wavelengths as well as OTDR and RF signals.

AP8608B and AP8616B GPON series platforms are scalable multi-services 1RU high performance OLT (optical line terminal) platforms with high-density 10G switching functionality. They provide network operators and service providers with a flexible and central management point for GPON services in FTTH/FTTB networks.

The AP8608B and AP8616B platform support a 1.25 Gbps uplink / 2.5 Gbps PON downlink transmission rate, efficient bandwidth usage, and Ethernet services to help carriers provide reliable services to their users. It features a coupling ratio up to 1:128, and supports many different hybrid ONU networks.

ACT’s AP8600B series GPON platform seamlessly cooperates with ACT routing and switching products. Combined with the ACT video overlay package, the AP8600B can provide a perfect end-to-end FTTH solution in offering advanced video, voice, and data services for small and large networks.

ACT products cover technologies from HFC Deep Fiber, RFoG, to FTTX (Active Ethernet, PON, PON+EoC). ACT understands each network has its own unique requirements. ACT offers operators the best migration technology that minimize capital investment while providing the required bandwidth for next-generation services.
